Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 – Steps to install ICS Android 4.0 Build 16 Firmware

Build 16 for Samsung Galaxy S has finally arrived. We will be providing with a detailed tutorial to update your mobile device. If you follow the steps given below than you can easily update from Build 15 to Build 16.

Note: It is just a test version and is not a fully-fledged version. You can try this only if your curious to see the new ICS version. And remember that this is not an Official Firmware update.

Remember: Follow all the pre-requisites carefully and instructions should be strictly followed if you want to update your mobile without any errors.

Change Log of Build 16

  • In Build 15 there is a regression that Super user application crashes
  • Also, Data Roaming is enabled by default
  • Back camera doesn’t record geo tagging
  • While changing resolution, camera crashes
  • New: WM8994 Extensions (aka “Voodoo Sound”) is now configurable from DSP Manager

Pre-requisites

USB Debugging mode
  • Run the device on USB Debugging Mode. This can be done by going to Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging and tick the checkbox.
  • Charge the battery to atleast 60% or more so that the device wont turn off during the update process.
  • Uninstall all the security suits so that they don’t pop-ups and interrupts in between the update process.
  • Last but not the least, backup all your important data so that it doesn’t gets lost

Backup data

  • Backup text messages by Using “SMS Backup & Restore app”
  • Backup Phone Contacts by Syncing with the Gmail application
  • To backup Internet and MMS Settings then Go to Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
  • Copy Pictures, Videos, Songs and etc to internal / External SD Card

Steps to install ICS Android 4.0 Build 16 Firmware on Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000

  • Turn Off your mobile and enter the recovery mode by “Pressing Volume Up key+ Menu Key + Power ON the device”.
  • Now you need to clear the cache. You can do this by going Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition” and clear the cache.
  • Now select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” > Build 16 ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware Zip Package,Google Apps with Face Unlock and Google Apps Fixer Package in the same order as mentioned. Wait for 10 minutes to get these files processed.
  • Select “++++ Go Back ++++” and after reboot the phone by selecting “reboot system now”
Samsung galaxy recovery mode
  • In the recovery mode, as soon as all the files are processed, then the device will boot again. It will take upto 20 minutes to update.
  • Select “Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition” in recovery mode to clear the cache and after that select “++++ Go Back ++++” and reboot the device by selecting “reboot system now”.

Now you can enjoy Build 16 ICS Android 4.0 in your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000.

Great News For all the people owing the HTC My touch 4G, With the release of ICS Android 4.0.3 peoples can now experience the newer,better and much powerful features of the new ICS. In the due course of this article we will show you how to upgrade your “HTC My Touch 4G” with the Latest ICS Android 4.0.3 firmware also Known as Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

1. CHARGE:

  • Make sure the Phone has around 60-80% of battery charge, if the battery runs out while upgrading it can render your phone dead.
  • Do not keep the charger connected.
  • Make sure the battery you are using is original; In case of fake batteries make sure they hold enough charge so as to run till the process is over.

2. BACKUP:

  • Contacts: These are the most important, Use the “Synchronize with Gmail app” to back up your contacts list.
  • Media files: Export them to your External Drive and remove the drive before proceeding with the upgrade.
  • SMS: If you want to save your messages then use the “Sms Backup and restore app” or the above given gmail app.
  • Internet settings: It is really advised to back these up as well as many operators take much time in sending the internet setting and even some companies charge for retrieval of the internet settings.
  • Apps: After hours of searching you find the right apps, you dont wanna  lose them when we update the phone, Use the ” App backup and restore”.

3. HISTORY:

This only applies if you have already updated the touch 4G with any of the Custom ROM’s:

  • Enter in the “Recovery Mode “and  choose the following

i.            Factory Reset/ Wipe data.

ii.            Wipe cache partition.

iii.            Open the advanced menu in recovery mode and also clear the Dalvik cache.

5. DOWNLOADS:

Now we will Begin the process Of Upgrading the Firmware of the Phone:

  • Copy the downloaded contents to the phone; do not copy them very deep inside the phone.
  • Switch off the Phone and enter the boot loader mode by holding down  “ Volume Up key + OK key + Power key”
  • Select the Recovery mode and then select “Install zip from SD card”, then select the “ICS Android 4.0.3” zip file followed by selecting the “Google apps” zip file  ( The one’s we copied to the Phone).
  • If you followed the steps as Described then the Device will start updating, upon completion of the update the device will reboot.
  • If the Device Lands in recovery mode screen then select the “Go back” Option and then select “Reboot system now”.

You can update the software by the following two methods,

Directly, A notification from motorola to the device:

  • On receiving the notification, just pull down the notification bar and click on download to start downloading the update.
  • Once the update is downloaded a notification appears stating the file is downloaded, then click on the install icon.
  • After the installation is finished the phone will automatically get rebooted and a notification showing the updated version will appear.

Manually, Using system Update:

  • If u have skipped the notification or if u did not getting a notification update then the update can be installed from they System update.
  • Open the main menu and Browse to the settings icon and open it, then open ‘About Phone’ icon.
  • Then tap on system update icon and the system will start searching for the updates.
  • Click on download icon to start  downloading  the update.
  • After downloading click on Install now icon, the software will get installed and the phone will get rebooted.

LG Optimus Me P350 – Update MIUI Custom ROM Firmware

There was an recent update of Cyanogen Mod 7.2  for LG Optimus Me P350 and now one more update is awaiting for you to install MIUI Custom ROM Firmware. Before getting to the installation, pre-requisite stuff, we want to notify that it is not an Official Update and has been released by third party developer. Also remember that as its not an official update, it’s not a fully stable version and may have some bugs.

Note: Users are responsible for themselves for mishaps or damage to phone. We will not be responsible for any damage done to your device.

Caution: Do not try this update on NETWORK LOCKED DEVICES, if you do so than we are not responsible.

Pre Requisites:

  • Backup all your data so that if doesn’t get lost, we will be post a tutorial soon on how to get backup data easily.
  • Make sure you charge mobile phone at least 60%, so that it doesn’t gets switched off in between the update.
  • Close all your antivirus software and disable the firewall protection as they interrupt in between the installation process.

1. Download MIUI Package and Google Apps in your pc. After downloading connect mobile to pc in mass storage mode via original USB cable.

2. Dont place the file in deep, place it on top so that you can easily find it in recovery mode.

3. Now, remore the USB cable and turn off your mobile. Press and hold”Volume Down + Call Button + Power Button” to enter recovery mode. If by mistake the device starts in normal mode, turn off and try to enter recovery mode again.

4. Clear the cache by selecting“Clear Storage” & “Wipe Cache Data” in recovery mode. After doing this, “install zip from SD Card” > “Choose zip from SD Card” and choose the MIUI file which you placed it on your mobile from pc. Also choose “Google Apps” Zip file  which you saved in the first step.

5. The installation process will start after you have chosen both files. After the installation thing is done, the device will restart automatically or will land on recovery mode.

6. If it lands back to recovery mode, select “++++ Go Back ++++” and select “reboot system now” to restart it.
